Meanwhile, a floating missionary!

This is the illustration for a birthday letter I just composed. I was rather pleased with how it turned out (at least, the missionary part), especially considering I had very limited reference. It's hard to get someone to pose in the air like that for very long.

  1. I love you, my doge. I like your drawing of yourself. :)
    Sent that letter yet?
And, also, see you soon! (I'm pretty much packed, and that's super-exciting. We're going to rent a car and take off! SOON!)

  2. Thanks. :) Yes, that letter got scanned and e-mailed to his family's home, where it was printed and included in his birthday package.

  3. So much in such an uncluttered drawing. Nice storytelling. Grooving on the purple tie. So much story untold as the symbolic image speaks only to those with the code-book.
No. Really. I'm not filling in the details myself. Honest. I'm not using my imagination.

  4. Wow, that's really a solid drawing, especially for no reference! I like the pose, very dancer-like. He's kind of a Peter-Pan missionary, lol ;) Awesome job!

  5. BNZAPFA: One problem with a work's creator still being alive is that readers/viewers/whatever seem to think that his intended meaning for the piece is the only real and valid one. So...please, fill in the details as imaginatively as you wish. There may be a fantastic story waiting there.

Josh: Thanks, I'm glad you like it! We need all the Peter Pan material we can get, no?
