Practicing elephant eyes. This was painted almost directly from photo reference--a practice technique I learned from my boyfriend (he can paint!), who learned it from this other guy, the other week.

Also, thank you! I, um, feel like the blend of "painterly" and "realism" is more a result of inexperience and limited ability at this point (I'm doing it this way because it's the only way I know how?), but hopefully I will continue to develop my skills--and in the meantime, it's nice that my work isn't unpleasant to look at. :)
That's beautiful! It has a lot of "soul" :) (Old-spirit soul, not R&B soul, though I supposed an elephant could probably pull it off lol)
