How is your Highness getting on with your Highness's roller-skating?

You know what's really frustrating?

Knowing that someone is in pain while you are in pain yourself.
Hearing the other's cries and wondering if he catches the echoes of your own.
Wanting to console and be consoled, but being held in check
by the (not unwarranted) fear that breaking the silence
will harm more than it will heal.

  1. Dang it, I don't think I meant to make that into a poem when I sat down to write it. But the line breaks presented themselves so neatly...

Oh, well. In the meantime, I highly recommend _The Swoop! or How Clarence Saved England_, by P.G. Wodehouse. It's worth it.

  2. Yeah, those darned line breaks sneak up on you like nobody's business.

And in case you were wondering, Emily, I'm holding out for a ten. Because I'M worth it.

Also, I was having problems with this earlier this summer. It was super-sad. But because I couldn't deal with myself, I could help anybody else. So my dad told me that it was like the oxygen mask thing: you HAVE to put yours on first, or you can't help anyone. You are specifically told to NOT put a mask on anyone else before yourself. Then you can help other people.

T-that's what happened to me, at least. I dunno about you.

    "vultshik" sounds Russian

  3. You ARE worth it, my doge. As is dear Draco. He's also probably the biggest Z'Effron fan.

Yeah... Thanks. I love you, my doge. Breathing is something with which I sometimes/often still need help.

    Assisted breathing.

  5. That doesn't sound fun . . . great poem, though. Having to be tough so you can deal with another person's needs, always tricky business. It reminds me of kind of a goofy story from Sarah and my munchkinhood lol.

  6. "Telling the truth can be dangerous business..."

I'd love to hear that story some time.
